Putting It Into Practice

1

Clarify tasks & timeline:

  • Review the checklist in your Design Journey Notebook to see the essential tasks that need to be completed in preparation for Design Experience 3.
  • Assign clear roles and deadlines based on the items to be completed before Design Experience 3.
2

Community engagement tasks:

  • Plan when and how the team will socialize and seek input from a diverse coalition on the Model-at-a-Glance.
  • Schedule stakeholder conversations using the competency cards.
  • Assign team members to conduct and synthesize student interviews using the Youth Voice Cards.
3

Learning tasks:

  • Identify when each team member will engage with videos and resources on the Science of Adolescent Learning and Meaningful, Engaged Learning.
  • Set a date to reflect as a team.
  • Plan a time to explore and reflect on prompts in the XQ Competency Navigator.
4

Gather and refine design artifacts:

  • Identify and assign responsibility for bringing one to three unit plans (including lessons and assessments).
  • Schedule time to revise the Model-at-a-Glance based on feedback.
5

Optional "can do" activities:

  • Decide whether to revisit the mission statement using the Activating Community Toolkit.
  • Schedule a review of Strong Mission & Culture and Caring, Trusting Relationships for potential additions to the Bold School Concept.
  • Determine if and how to invite broader community members to audit the Model-at-a-Glance.
6

Align calendars:

  • Align these deadlines with existing team calendars to identify optimal timing for community engagement and ensure all steps are completed before Design Experience 3.
