Overview

After Design Experience 3, your team will revisit your Learning Experience, clarify its alignment with your Bold School Concept, and gather community feedback to test and refine your design. The focus is on preparing with intention, so you arrive at Design Experience 4: Imagine the Student Experience ready to move your work forward.

Clarify tasks and timeline:

  • Review the checklist in your Design Journey Notebook to see the essential tasks that need to be completed following Design Experience 3 in preparation for Design Experience 4.
  • Assign clear roles and deadlines to ensure your team is ready for the next design experience.

Update and refine Bold School Concept artifacts:

  • Schedule time to complete the following:
    • Refine your draft Learning Experience by grounding it in community engagement feedback and XQ Design Principles.
    • Edit the Design Principle Executive Summary to reflect new learnings.
    • Refresh the Learner Outcome Alignment chart so competencies and performances mirror the revised LX.

Conduct the Conditions reflection:

  • Revisit your School Readiness Assessment ratings and review the Conditions.
  • Schedule a team meeting to celebrate progress, identify remaining gaps, and name next steps as well as supports you may need.
  • Capture your reflections in your Design Journey Notebook.

Optional "can do" activities:

  • Continue refining your Learning Experience and Bold School Concept artifacts.
  • Apply learning from the Design Principles of Meaningful, Engaged Learning and Youth Voice & Choice to strengthen additional elements of your Bold School Concept.

Align calendars:

  • Align these deadlines with existing team calendars to identify optimal timing for community engagement and ensure all steps are completed before Design Experience 4.
  • Set regular check-ins to monitor progress and adjust your plan as needed.
