Supporting Schools With Next Steps

Overview

After Design Experience 5, you will reflect on what you heard and observed from each school team. This includes reviewing each team’s Bold School Concept, their illustrative presentation, and their Path to Success.

In this step, you play a key role in helping schools move from vision to action. You will help clarify next steps, remove barriers, and prepare to publicly champion each team’s bold design. You’ll also analyze each team’s Path to Success to identify system-level action steps—especially those related to resource use practices—that will enable school teams to implement their vision with confidence.

Outputs
  • A shared understanding of what support the school team needs to finalize and deliver their Bold School Concept presentation
  • Clear next steps from the district to help remove barriers and sustain momentum
  • Clarity on the district’s role during the presentation event (e.g., presence, remarks, or support)
  • Follow-up actions with owners to align system-level planning, resources, and supports with school teams’ upcoming needs

Putting It Into Practice

1

Reflect as a district team:

After Design Experience 5, take time to reflect on what you heard and observed from each school team. Use the Resource Use Practices Guide for Systems to assess how your district is addressing the seven key organizational shifts that support the long-term success of bold, innovative models.

2

Connect with school-based leads:

Schedule a check-in with each school team and facilitation partner to understand their Bold School Concept presentation plan. Ask what support they need to finalize their presentation and strengthen their Path to Success.

3

Identify and clear hurdles:

Surface any logistical, operational, or staffing challenges that could slow progress. Coordinate across departments to remove barriers.

4

Coordinate with the facilitation partner:

Align on school team progress and preparation. Determine what community and district stakeholders need to be present at the event to support implementation—and ensure they’re invited.

5

Reinforce key priorities and timelines:

Clarify what needs to happen before the presentation and offer targeted reminders or supports to help teams stay on track.

6

Provide feedback on artifacts:

Review draft Bold School Concept artifacts and/or the presentation itself. Offer feedback that is both affirming and constructive—highlighting strengths, identifying opportunities for refinement, and ensuring alignment with district priorities.
