The Bold School Concept is the culminating product of your strategic design journey. It’s more than a single document—it’s a collection of interconnected, research-based, and community-grounded artifacts that together articulate your vision for a school that is bold, coherent, and transformational.

Developed in alignment with the XQ Design Principles, Learner Outcomes, and Competencies, your Bold School Concept ensures model coherence and provides actionable tools for communication, reflection, and implementation.

Whole School Overview

Case for Change: A compelling summary of why redesign is essential, rooted in insights from the community, EOAA, and SRA.

Model-at-a-Glance:A one-page visual of the school’s new design, central pillars, and rationale.

Design Principle Executive Summary: A synthesis of how your design addresses each of the XQ Design Principles.

Learner Outcome Alignment: A clear articulation of the knowledge, skills, and mindsets students will build, aligned to the XQ Learner Outcomes.

Stakeholder Engagement Plan: A plan showing how stakeholders have shaped the work—and how they’ll continue to be involved.

Student Experience

Learning Experience: A snapshot of an academically rigorous, competency- rich learning experience.

Day in the Life: A narrative example illustrating a student’s daily/weekly experience in your new school.

4-Year Trajectory: A grade-by-grade outline showing how students build skills and experiences across their high school journey.

Path to Success: The key resources, practices, and supports needed to guide the implementation of your Bold School Concept.

  • Inspire and align your internal team

  • Serve as a foundation for piloting and full implementation

 How It Comes Together

You will develop your Bold School Concept through an iterative, community-driven design process across five Design Experiences. At each stage, you will:

  • Ground yourselves in research, data, and the lived experiences of your school community
  • Engage students, families, staff, and partners in co-creating your vision
  • Draft, test, and refine each artifact as your ideas evolve
  • Integrate feedback from your community and your facilitation partner to strengthen alignment, clarity, and impact

This approach ensures that your Bold School Concept reflects both your boldest aspirations and your community’s real needs and dreams.
